After Shakti, another flick from the house of Boney Kapoor is about to be released - Khushi. Remake of a Tamil movie by the same name, it is directed by the same director - S.J.Suryah and stars Fardeen Khan and Kareena Kapoor (in the title role). Music is by Anu Malik and Sameer writes the lyrics.
‘Aaja Piya’ has Sunidhi Chauhan in her ‘nasheela’ best and has sung it on a different pitch altogether which has not been witnessed before from her. A little bit of shade of ‘Piya Piya’ from Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega here and there but still it is the funky beats and Sunidhi’s voice that cause a very good impact. The number should be one of those crowd puller tracks and the producers should hold this one till the release of the movie for the maximum results. Sunidhi also renders another track ‘Khushi Aayee Re Aayee Re’ but since it is a situational song so the impact gets diluted. An OK number, it is about how this girl called Khushi can bring happiness in the life of people around her and HOLD ON, also turn ‘paani’ into ’sharara’. (as the lyrics go !!!) A number about I-AM-THE-HAPPIEST-AND-U-TOO-BE-HAPPY, it mainly describes about the essence of the title of the movie - Khushi.
Hema Sardesai is destined to reach the top of the charts with ‘Hai Re Hai Re’. The number has caught fancy of many a moviegoers and going by the rate at which it’s popularity is rising, it should be match up to the success of another Kareena number - ‘Maine Koyi Jaadu Nahi Kiya’ from Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. For a change, KK is overshadowed in a number, primarily due to the arrangement of the song where Hema holds prominence. Choreography by Prabhu Deva is eye catching and there is no denying the fact that it is one of the most innovatively choreographed number for a long time. Makeup done on both the lead players, Fardeen Khan and Kareena are in a humorous vein and the number may well be the USP of Khushi.
‘I love U Mom, I will have some cornflakes….’ This is how the number ‘Good Morning India’ by Sonu Nigam goes. No pun intended but now the lyrics are being lifted from the popular TV shows as well…!!!! Well, leaving the matter here, it can be said that the number written by Sameer is entertaining nevertheless. The song mainly emphasizes on the lead actor Fardeen Khan’s fascination with India (primarily Kolkata, as is visible in the song as there is an entire para in Bengali talking about bengali sweets, samosas, Rabindra Sangeet etc.). A fun track, it is in western mould (as are the rest of the tracks) and is fairly enjoyable.
Listen to ‘Tere Bina’ and you know that you are listening to a Anu Malik composition. A good love duet by Alka Yagnik and Shaan, it is treated well and churns out to be an above average track. Another above average duet is by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan in the shape of ‘Jiya Maine Jiya’ which is as romantic as millions of other Anu Malik melodies. Nothing great about the track but it has the constituents that normally work. Conventional lyrics, reliable vocals and tried and tested melodies. No risk taken, just the product delivered !!! This is the reason why some out of the regular tunes like ‘Hai Re Hai Re’ and ‘Aaja Piya’ are more catchy than rest of the numbers and are good reasons to buy Khushi.
You can go for it. It’s not a complete album in entirety as are Kaante and Aap Ko Pehle Bhi Kahi Dekha Hai but still can be listened to when one is in the mood to have some fun time.
