Meera and Ashmit PatelPakistani film actress Meera, who has been in the storm over some kissing scenes in the Bollywood flick Nazar, has said that it would be unjust on the part of the government to allow the screening of Mughal-e-Azam and not Nazar.

She said that Nazar also being an Indian movie should be screened in Pakistan, as it would give an impetus to the Indo-Pak peace process. She said that the government should in fact allow the screening of Nazar before Mughal-e-Azam is screened across theaters in Pakistan.

“Nazar is also an Indian movie, but should be prioritized to be screened in Pakistan because it is part of the ongoing peace process between Pakistan and India. If the government allows the screening of Mughal-e-Azam in Pakistani cinemas, it should also allow the screening of Nazar,” Daily Times quoted Meera as saying.

The Ministry of Culture along with religious parties, had asked for a ban on Meera as well as on the movie over the alleged kissing scenes. They had said that it was not only against Islamic morals, but also a direct insult to Pakistani culture and tradition.

Meera said that though the film would be released in India on May 19, she would make a trip to Karachi on May 16, for the film’s screening before senior government officials.
