This Saturday, November 17, Pakistani design heavy weights Nickie Nina and Kamiar Rokni participated in one of Lahore’s premier charity fashion events, ‘9 women’ , held by the Lahore Grammar School Defence Campus in honour of the Depilex Smile Again Foundation .

This was a charity fashion event with a difference. The event concept required active participation from an exclusive panel of Lahore ’s top designers who personally trained students in design, cut, silhouette, colour, manufacture and retail over a period of time. The culmination of this training for Nickie Nina was exemplified at the show in its ‘Motherhood’ segment where Nickie Nina’s student trainees showcased three of their own creations inspired by the glamorous design duo on a ramp modelled by fellow students along with one original Nickie Nina number modelled by Iffat Omar.

Design sensation Kamiar Rokni was called upon to exclusively unveil a selection of his new designs for two faces of Pakistani women, ‘The Artist’ and the ‘Prom Queen’, both of which won awards and were modelled exclusively by his muse, Maliha Naipaul to student, teacher and judges acclaim.

The purpose of this event was multi tiered. Nickie Nina and Kamiar Rokni’s participation and enthusiasm is owed to their desire to create awareness among students of the different and versatile faces of Pakistani women, to promote fashion in Pakistan and of course to aid Depilexs’ honourable charity in helping people to smile again.

The event was choreographed by Hasan Shehryar Yasin with Depilex providing their make up services. Ather, Shahzad, Maria B and Yahsir Waheed comprised the esteemed judging panel.

Nickie Nina are now gearing up to launch their winter collection in Pakistan, are opening a new outlet at ‘The Boulevard’, 10 Q, Lahore and will also be exhibiting an eighty piece strong collection in New York, Washington and Chicago later this month.

Kamiar Rokni’s select haute couture pieces along with his prêt a porter line will be available from 01 December 2007 at ‘The Boulevard’, 10 Q, Lahore . His news design label will also be a main design feature at Karachi ’s latest luxury brand store, Ensemble, opening this December.
