Last year, the Pakistan pavilion won the Best Cultural Activities award during DSF. For the 10th anniversary of the DSF this year, the organisers have lined up a spectacular calendar of events that presents every aspect of the country’s cultural heritage. A number of star-studded cultural and musical shows have been scheduled throughout the DSF and will be presented at the Global Village and at other festival venues. Well-known Pakistani actor and comedian, Umer Sharif and popular actress Noor will inaugurate the cultural activities at the Pakistan pavilion with a live performance on Thursday (January 20) at 8.30pm. The show, free for all visitors, is organised by the Consulate General of Pakistan in association with Spotlight FZ LLC.

Sahara ropes in Diya Mirza as director!

Sahara is certainly turning out to be bigger than the biggest. Why, the company is roping in actors and actresses by the dozen as ambassadors and directors. The latest to join the list is Diya Mirza. The actress will be on the official payroll of the company, if reports are to be believed. Diya, who hasn’t had a hit so far, is probably thanking her stars she’s joined such an elite list as Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai who are also Sahara directors. Now let’s hope this is a sign of a new diya (lamp), a new hope in her career!

Indian actress to pair opposite Pak superstar Shaan

Apart from contributing to the India-Pakistan cultural thaw, Indian actress Sheeba Bhakri has more reasons to feel happy and proud, reports IANS.

Happy because her first India-Pakistan multi-star film in Punjabi - “Pind Di Kudi” (village girl) - is complete and ready for release.

Proud because she has now been chosen to act opposite Pakistan film industry’s superstar Shaan in a Pakistani Punjabi film.

Being the first actress from India to be signed for a film in Pakistan, Sheeba has her plans worked out. “The shooting starts after Nov 14 and the schedule would be over in one month flat,” she said here Monday.

Amitabh Bachchan unveils ‘Sochta Hun’

Amitabh Bachchan recently unveiled Babul Supriyo’s debut solo pop album ‘Sochta Hun.’ The event was attended by several biggies of the music world – Sonu Nigam, Abhijeet, Shan, Udit Narayan to name a few. Another surprise guest of honour was Jr. Bachchan who also graced the occasion. “I almost feel like a newcomer even after spending so many years in the music industry,” said Babul Supriyo. Well, this is a new beginning for the singer, and we hope he goes a long way singing along.
