Many designers specialize in cut, but very few have Kamiar Rokni’s penchant for a “Perfect Finish” to a garment. Although just 27, the 5′8 pixie-like Lahorite is raising industry standards with the bold color combinations and perfect detailing of the creations arising from his and partner Maheen Kardar’s fashion house Karma. The multi-talented Libra designs, writes and is eager to create Pakistan’s first Lifestyle Store.
When did you decide to become a fashion designer?
I don’t know when. I think I’ve wanted to become one since I was 5 years old. I know I never wanted to do anything else.

Hassan Sheheryar Yasin is your typical Scorpio, determined, magnetic and brainy with a wide gamut of hidden talents. He talks a mile-a-minute and can speak on an array of topics from politics to art to movies, all with equal passion and conviction.
Choreographer, fashion designer and event coordinator, he wowed Bridal Asia this past summer and recently participated in the Prague Fashion Week where he was hailed by international reporters as the “Fashion Guru of the East.” His career continues to go from strength to strength as the designer is just opening his HSY Studio boutique in Lahore which features prêt-a-porter and haute couture as well as event management facilities.

Nabila has a gentle presence, hardly the intimidating façade you would expect a person with her fame and popularity to have. In a way, she is larger than the celebrities she deals with. Her credibility comes from almost 20 years of hard work. The architecture and interiors of her salons are testament to her philosophy: everything must be underplayed except elegance; styles and their lines must be subdued and restrained, the Zen disturbed only by a dramatic burst of anarchy.
Her passion for discipline borders on desperation to constantly take things higher. “I believe in raising the bar. I just can’t be satisfied in taking what’s given to me. I have to push the limits.”

In a historic fashion, business and diplomatic move, Faiza Samee, the Pakistani designer who once dressed former prime minister Benazir Bhutto for her wedding, has begun retailing in Delhi, the first ever for a Pakistani designer in India.
Samee, who will be selling at the Carma fashion boutique in Mehrauli, has even made saris for the first time in her more than two-decade fashion career, especially for the India launch.
“This is a dream come true,” Samee told IANS in an interview. “People have been telling for 10 years to sell in India. But there were too many complications and I wanted everything to be just right.

Old is gold and new is bold. Bold enough to bowl you over with everything that they do. And they do like no one can do. Here is a great tidal wave of young fashion gurus and divas that has stormed our fashion industry shores… Rocking a lot of boats and changing the scenery of the breakwater. So charged are they that they could put KESC’s Power Station to shame. They are relatively new but surely on a signing spree. So meet the new fashion police, which is lighting up our fashion world.

It was chaos at the lower level of the Dolmen Mall where people were anticipating the opening of a designer wear shop. What made the event exclusive, was the fact that it was the opening of a renowned television actress Sadia Imam’s shop and not just another designer wear shop.
The invitation stated the time of the opening but as a fashionable custom, even after an hour, people were waiting outside. To heighten the excitement, the facade of the shop was covered and the guests were eagerly waiting to see what was in store. This wait for a couple of hours seemed to be bearable, as everybody was busy chatting away .
