After 11 flops, Vikram Bhatt looks for a HIT in 1920

September 16th, 2008

Once upon a time there was a film maker called Vikram Bhatt who hit gold with whatever he made. Films like ‘Fareb’ (adulterous drama), ‘Ghulam’ (action social), ‘Kasoor’ (courtroom drama), ‘Raaz’ (musical horror) and ‘Awara Paagal Deewana’ (action comedy) traversed genres and proved to be blockbusters.

Then started a bad professional phase for this Bhatt protégé who has now delivered an astonishing 11 back to back box office duds. With his last success being ‘Awara Paagal Deewana’ (2002), it has been nothing short of a harrowing five years for the film maker who is longing to taste success.

Fiza

September 12th, 2003

If being a Bollywood hunk and becoming a role model for millions of young men were a test, then Hrithik has passed it with flying colours.

HIS second film showcases not just his muscles and good looks, but his histrionics as well. Although a completely different genre from his debut (Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai), Hrithik proves with Fiza that he is not a one-hit wonder. However, his co-stars manage to steal their own share of the glory: Jaya Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor deliver powerful, hard-hitting performances, and Khalid Mohammed’s directorial debut is as thought provoking and heart wrenching as you could wish it to be.
